As players make their way through Silent Hill 2, they slowly discover that the protagonist's wife, Mary, didn’t die of an illness as was previously supposed. But where most games would wrap up the story with a simple ending , Silent Hill 2 takes it a step farther and offers multiple endings, each of which is a reaction to the player’s reasons for killing Mary. If James killed her to set himself free, another ending is presented.
